
Dylans is named after the great writer Dylan Thomas, it was here, when it was the hotel kitchen and in the bar that he spent much of his time while in New Quay. 
| Many people now dine here and take in the atmosphere of the place where so many great works began their life. The works that Dylan Thomas completed during his stay in the town the poems, Vision and Prayer, Holy Spring, Poem in October, Fern Hill, and a Refusal to Mourn the Death by Fire of A Child in London. All of these works were published during the year earning him great praise and awards. The radio scripts, Quite Early One Morning and Memories of Christmas, both written and narrated by Thomas were broadcast by the B.B.C. He also worked on other scriptwriting projects such as, Suffer Little Children and film biographies of, Robert Burns and Dr. Crippen, none of which were produced. However part of the script for Suffer Little Children was later used for the Diana Dors film, 'Good Time Girl'. Later some of the poems would he published, to great acclaim, under the title 'Deaths and Entrances', and this collection was to mark him as one of the great poets of our time. |
There are many memorabilia pieces of Dylan Thomas including books, photo's posters and drawings. The photographs top right and below show the corner where Dylan would sit and drink, with his friends, or sometimes just sit and possibly write, and when you visit the restaurant you will experience just why Dylan spent so much time here. | |
